“Jeremy is comfortable in his own skin,” stated my husband, Mike. We had been discussing our 24-year-old son, and how thankful we were for him and amazed that he can so easily relate to almost anyone of any age. Jeremy does not put on airs or try to be something he isn’t. He’s just who he is. He loves God, he loves people, he loves life. How two flawed individuals could raise a son that turned out like Jeremy is only by the Grace of God. I got to thinking about how many people are insecure with who they are. How many times have I wished I looked like someone else or had a more bubbly personality or had the gift of communication, etc. But the Bible says we should not compare ourselves among ourselves. That’s not wise. What a blessing it is to be comfortable with who we are and how God made us. Of course we are flawed, and God will work all that out if we allow Him to. But in each one of us, there is beauty and talents, given to us from God Himself. We should not take those lightly or wish we were someone else. With that in mind, I would like to share the following poem that I wrote when I was in my mid 20’s, many, many moons ago!
1. Men don’t panic when you view
Someone who looks better than you.
Don’t envy his muscular physique.
Though he seems to be a hunk,
Remember, “God don’t make no junk”
You are truly special and unique.
Chorus: Better than one in a million,
That’s what you are to God.
When you think of all the billion
That on this earth do trod
How God made only you to be you
It says so in His letter (bible)
And we all know His word is true
So no one can be you better.
2. Ladies don’t you turn all green
When you see a beauty queen.
Don’t you whimper and wish that was you.
Remember that your kind is rare.
So don’t go trying to compare
There’ll never be another one like you.
3. When you see a famous preacher
Or a highly skillful teacher
Or anyone whose talents seem perfected.
Remember that resident in you
Are resources that our God can use.
And know that in His eyes you are accepted.
4. Don’t try to be what you ain’t
And don’t try to mar and taint
That which God intended you to be.
From the day of your own birth
You are of great prize and worth
To God Almighty and to humanity!

Sis,
You are ONE in a GAZILLION to me!
I always wanted a big sister
and just look . . . I got 3!
I love your poem
it sure hits home!
And that boy of yours
well, he makes us all burst our buttons!
Proud,
Auntie
I sure am proud of my nephew too, and I’m proud of my big sis. Very good post.
Love,

I love Jer! He’s cool…
Keek:
I can’t say it any better. I echo all comments before mine (and probably all after). Nice job. I love the message of this entry. Love–Tommy Joe!
Very nice. Just curious, did you homeschool Jeremy? My homeschooler friends have the most confident kids.
OK, I guess I’ll be the one to say what we’re all thinking: naturally Jeremy must model himself after me. There, I said it. Anyone notice the relief in the room?
Jeremy has the natural intelligence and wit of his mother, coupled with the sarcasm of Bub.
Jeremy is a great Guy. Several years ago he my oldest son and spent some time with him teaching him a Bible Study. That experience still has an impact on my son. He still talks about that time and even the things he learned. Thank you Jeremy.
Jeremy’s mom and dad are pretty special people too. We love and appreciate them more than we can say. Know them I can see how their son turned out so great.
God Bless this wonderful family.
Sis Eva:
You are a gem! Thank you for all your nice comments. We love you and your family and so appreciate your integrity, walk with God and love you demonstrate in all you do.
Love,
Karen
Hi from wintry Finland!
“Hallowed be thy Name!”
Yes! May The FATHER’s name be glorified in The SON thru the human seed made according to His image. That’s HEAVEN on EARTH, i.e The kingdom of God among men.
That’s it.
With great joy,
Leif bar Leevi
By the way, I LOVE your new blog picture at the top!!! You’re all crazy…no wonder where I get it from.
I love the picture at the top, but who’s that crazy guy in the middle? Are you sure you want to be associated with him???
